Man creating "guidebook" keep info on women

A college student who created a “guidebook” in order to keep information on women has enraged the internet with a new post going viral on social media.

Published to Reddit’s infamous r/AmITheA**hole forum, a man under the username u/kaiokamikaze shared his story to get feedback from the AITA community to determine if he was in the wrong. The popular post has over 7,000 upvotes and 4,000 comments.

“So freshman year of college, I began working on this project casually,” the Redditor began, “I like to keep notes on women I talk to about their favorite things, activities they enjoy, gifts/candy they like, sappy s** t like that. I suck at remembering things like that so I decided to keep a spreadsheet.”

He nonchalantly brought his “Pokédex”—named for the guide in the game and anime series Pokémon that indexes the imaginary creatures—up to his friends and they had the idea that he should share it with them. One thing led to another, and 40 men in the Reddit user’s fraternity now have access to it. They could add new entries that they “caught” in order to help others impress the woman they were going on a date with.

The women were mostly from other sororities around his college campus. He reiterated to the readers that he didn’t have this Pokédex for “nefarious or scumbaggy” reasons. In an edit to the post, he confirmed that he wasn’t a stalker and the list was not intended to have information that could hurt anyone nor was it intended for “just” sex.

The user said, “Somehow, a girl who was on the list found out and she was p**sed [the f**k] off. She was eventually able to trace it back to me so I assume someone who was simping for her snitched when the Pokédex wasn’t making the girl like him. So she’s pissed off and she made it out to be a guide to hooking up with women, when it’s most definitely not that.

“It’s just to make impressing them on dates easier. That’s it. She’s made a big deal of this telling so many girls around campus and now they’re all saying that by the start of the fall semester, none of them will be visiting our fraternity or going to our parties,” he continued.

He mentioned that his fraternity was upset with him despite them using the list.

Are you planning on going on a date with someone you just met via a dating app? Here are a few ways to keep yourself safe. Per the official Tinder website, don’t rush to go on a date with someone, get to know them more before meeting in person. Another good tip is to meet in public like in a restaurant.

Remember to never leave drinks or personal items unattended. Find your own transportation to and from your date just in case, have a friend pick you up, use a ridesharing app, a taxi or drive yourself. Tell people about your plans so someone knows where you are. Trust your instincts and leave if you’re uncomfortable.

Have you ever been in a situation where you were on a date with someone and you were feeling uncomfortable? There is a type of “shot” you can order at many restaurants to let the bartender or waiter know that you need help. In a TikTok that has gone viral, a bartender under the username @benjispears shared what an “angel shot” is and that it is becoming more well-known in bars/restaurants. There are three ways you can order an angel shot:

  1. Angel shot with lime means you need the police involved.
  2. Angel shot neat means that you want someone (security, employee or bartender) to walk you to your car.
  3. Angel shot on the rocks means you need the restaurant/bar staff to call a taxi, Uber or Lyft to get you home.

Many readers were quick to slam the original poster (OP) for his actions.

“[You’re the a**hole]-but mainly for thinking everyone is too stupid they see the real intention behind the list. There isn’t a person on here who believes this list isn’t for sexual or nefarious reasons,” u/jake7992 exclaimed, receiving the top comment with over 10,000 upvotes.

“That is f**king terrifying, for what I hope are obvious reasons. There is plenty of other things wrong with this (you’ve basically set out ag**damn menu of women for men to pick and choose from, describing it as a ‘pokedex’), but hopefully this might give you somewhere to start. [You’re the a**hole]. Delete this database immediately. Your ‘convenience’ does not trump women’s safety,” u/CeridwenAeradwr explained.

U/Kindly_Reward_8537 called out the OP, “[You’re the a**hole] That’s just creepy. And the fact that you shared it with other people and allowed them to edit it is disgusting. Also..’entries’?? These aren’t ‘entries’ these are actual people you’re talking about here.”

“Yeah…[You’re the a**hole]. If it was for yourself then you could possibly get a pass depending on the information. But the fact you shared it around and allowed others to edit and use it. That alone makes [you the a**hole],” u/No-Bridge-6546 admitted.

“[You’re the a**hole]. Girls aren’t Pokemon cards or objects you need to study. If you want to impress a girl how about taking her out? Getting to know her? If you’re truly interested you’re going to remember her likes and dislikes, you won’t need a spreadsheet,” u/oneblessedmess said.
